CAMPAIGN CALENDAR OF ACTIONS
MARCH 6: Join us for a faith and peace “read-in” on Tuesday, March 6 from 3 -5 pm at Senator Sununu’s Manchester office organized by leaders of New Hampshire’s faith community. We will deliver a strong message to the Senator that New Hampshire’s faith communities want the occupation of Iraq to end now, that we want Senator Sununu to vote against the $100 billion supplemental funding when it comes up for a vote in April, and that we would like to engage in a respectful dialogue with the Senator about his position on Iraq.
Bring signs asking the Senator to defund the war, and spiritual and/or religious readings to share during the two-hour action. We anticipate leaving the office at closing. We are looking for people to stand outside Sununu’s office with signs and to be inside the office. Even if you are not a person of faith, your presence is be welcomed and appreciated.
If you can be at Senator Sununu’s office on March 6, please contact Gray Fitzgerald at .
MARCH 13: Please join New Hampshire poets and activists against the Iraq war on Tuesday, March 13, from 12 noon - 2 pm for a VERY SPECIAL POETRY READING at Senator Sununu’s Manchester and Newington offices. The poets and others will first deliver a letter to Senator Sununu urging him to defund the Iraq occupation by voting against the $100 billion supplemental funding request when it goes to the Senate in early April, to call on the President to engage Iran diplomatically, and to engage his NH constituents in dialogue about a war that has now cost NH taxpayers more than $1.6 billion.
After the letter is delivered, there will be a poetry reading. Poets will be bringing poems that raise up their concerns about war and their passionate wishes for peace. You are welcome to come and just listen, or bring a poem to share. There will also be poems available to read.
We would like as many poets (and others!) to join us as possible. If you would like to attend the reading in Sununu’s Newington office, please contact Amy Antonucci at 750-7506/amyla44@juno.com. If you would like to attend the Manchester office reading, contact LR Berger at writeonlr@aol.com/496-1056.
The poetry reading will be guided by the following principles:
Our attitude will be one of nonviolence, openness and respect toward all we encounter.
We will use no violence, verbal or physical, toward any person.
We will not destroy or damage any property.
We will love our neighbor, especially those who oppose us.
MARCH 19: 4th Anniversary of the Iraq. If you are interested in participating in a nonviolent civil disobedience action on March 19 on the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq at Senator Senator Sununu’s Manchester office or learning more, please contact Anne Miller at 228-0559 or anne@nhpeaceaction.org.
