Berta Cáceres: A Martyr for Water and Environmental Rights

Berta Cáceres, an indigenous Lenca woman and environmental activist, who fearlessly worked to defend the Gualcarque River, and its community was shot and killed on March 3rd, 2016 in the middle of the night in her home in La Esperanza, Honduras.

La Voz de los de Abajo has organized local actions in Chicago. The website below suggests actions calling for independent investigation of Berta’s murder and an end to the Agua Zarca dam project.
